In Progress

The dress is being worked on. There was a problem with the pattern which has slowed me way down. I put the sleeves on the dress only to find out when I did a fitting with Olivia, the sleeves are not long enough. Apparently there was a problem with the plotter machine and so the sleeve was made much shorter then it was designed. No big deal, except I used French seams on the armholes, along with everywhere else, so I have a lot of unpicking to do if I am going to put new sleeves on the dress. In the mean time, I have been working on the bodiced petticoat for the dress.

The bodiced petticoat is being made out of linen. Olivia is very excited and looking forward to her new dress.

Hopefully I will have this done soon. :)

Off The Sewing Machine

Olivia's second knit Regency nightgown is finished. For this one, I used the same pattern, Girls' Regency Dress Pattern and with this one, I used the front bodice piece to make both the front and back bodice of the nightgown. I took the shoulder seam and brought it up to the shoulder. I scooped out the neckline a bit more, making the front a tiny bit lower then the back. I also lengthened the bodice once again, to give more growing room for Olivia.

I bound the neckline and the sleeves with fold over elastic which worked really well. Olivia liked the shiny blue of the elastic, so we used the shiny side instead of the dull side. To help Olivia know her front from her back bodice, I made the seam on the neckline at center back.

To be young again to be able to spin and have fun.........sweet dreams.....

On The Sewing Machine

Miss Olivia grew so much this past summer, she needs almost a whole new wardrobe. I am happy to oblige in producing one for her. We are waiting for that new 1780's Girls' pattern, so while we continue to wait, I have started making some nightgowns.

The first nightgown is done. Using my tried and true Girls' Regency Dress Pattern and some cotton knit fabric, I made Olivia a nightgown. I changed up the pattern by drafting out the back side seams, bringing the shoulder seams onto the shoulders, making and open front, rather then back and lengthening the bodice. I wanted it a bit big so she will hopefully get a couple years wear out of it.

Olivia waited so patiently for me to get this done. She's one happy girl, playing and having fun.

Next fabric on the sewing machine is:

This nightgown will be slightly different. It will be a pull over the head style.

Good Night and sweet dreams.

Psalm 23

While I realize this has been an overused Psalm, it is very fitting and so true and so I share it here...and we know in death, there is life....I watch to see what my amazing God will do.

For those who have been lifting us up in prayer, we are especially thankful and grateful.

Please take a moment to read these words anew. They are precious.

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
